Read Haggai 2:1-19 (NLT)
Last week our message was “Spark My Enthusiasm.” The passage was from the book of Haggai, a 2 chapter book near the end of the Old Testament. The prophecy was given in 520 BC, just a few years after the 70 years of captivity by the Babylonians. The message was sent to Zerubbabel the governor of Judah, to Jeshua the high priest and the remnant of people who had moved back to Jerusalem.
And last week in chapter 1 Haggai people were saying that it’s not time to rebuild the Temple of God, so Haggai brought a message of Repentance from their sin of not building His temple. A second message that GOD is IN CONTROL, not us. And 3rd message occurred as all of God’s people began to obey the first message of repentance. The 3rd message was that God will spark enthusiasm in the heart of Zerubbabel, Jeshua and all the people. He will give them a passion to rebuild his temple. To worship together, to do ministry, to make disciples. Ultimately to build God’s kingdom, but it started with repentance, obedience and then God gave them the enthusiasm, the fire, and the passion to build His temple.
